Omari Forson joins Serie A club. African footballers. Manchester United playmaker Omari Forson has turned down a new contract to join Italian side Monza. The 19-year-old has agreed to a four-year deal with Monza, with an option for an additional year.
Despite Manchester United offering Forson a new deal and not listing him among released players, he chose to leave. Last season, he made seven appearances and provided an assist on his Premier League debut for Kobbie Mainoo. However, his game time diminished towards the end of the season, and he wasn’t included in the squad for the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

Despite offers to extend his stay with Manchester United, Forson has opted for a new challenge in Italy’s top flight. The London-born midfielder joins Monza, a club that finished 12th in Serie A this season. Although Monza had a strong start, their campaign ended on a disappointing note, with the team failing to secure a victory in their final nine matches. Forson’s arrival is anticipated to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.

Forson’s journey to professional football began in London, where he spent his formative years with West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Manchester United. He quickly made a name for himself in the Under-18s, gaining valuable experience in both the league and the FA Youth Cup.
He played a crucial role during United’s run to the 2021 semi-finals of the Youth Cup, coming off the bench in every match before the tournament was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When the competition resumed, United fell to Chelsea in the semi-final at St. George’s Park.

During the early stages of his career, Forson’s versatility and creativity on the field stood out. His performances earned him a spot in Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the USA in 2023, paving the way for his first-team debut in early 2024. On January 8, 2024, Forson replaced Marcus Rashford during stoppage-time in United’s FA Cup third-round victory over Wigan Athletic, marking his official entry as the 249th Academy graduate to play for the club.
