From January 1, 2022, after the registration of an employee, employed as a mini-job worker, employers will receive feedback from the employment office. They will find out if the employee has already started short-term work in the same calendar year.
These pre-employment periods are important for employers, as short-term employment can be a maximum of 3 months or 70 working days per year.

Another important innovation with Minijob in 2022: As of January 1, the employer must provide the office service not only the tax number (Steuernummer) to the employee, but also the tax identification number (Steueridentifikationsnummer).
All German residents, both citizens and expats, receive a unique number that is valid for life. Tax identifier known as Steueridentifikationsnummer, Steuerliche Identifikationsnummer, Steuer-IdNr., IdNr. Or Steuer-ID) consists of 11 numbers in the format 00 000 000 000.
