Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister has been admitted to the hospital for tests, 10 days after he tested positive to coronavirus.
“On the advice of his doctor, the Prime Minister has tonight been admitted to hospital for tests,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
Downing Street clarified that the tests were part of a “precautionary step” taken on the advice of Mr Johnson’s doctor due to his lingering symptoms.

In a statement, a Downing Street spokeswoman said: “On the advice of his doctor, the prime minister has tonight been admitted to hospital for tests.
“This is a precautionary step, as the prime minister continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus 10 days after testing positive for the virus.”
She added: “The prime minister thanks NHS staff for all of their incredible hard work and urges the public to continue to follow the government’s advice to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.”

On 27th March 2020 Boris Johnson announced that he had tested positive for coronavirus. In a video posted on Twitter , Mr Johnson said: “Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives”.
“Now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others and to stop all unnecessary travel, Mr Johnson said. “We need people to start working from home where they possibly can. And you should avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues. It goes without saying, we should all only use the NHS when we really need to. And please go online rather than ringing NHS 111.”
