UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus. In a video posted on Twitter , Mr Johnson said: “Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives”

On the advice of the chief medical officer, Mr Johnson took a test which returned positive for coronavirus. He is self-isolating and working from home.
So far 11,600 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the UK. The virus has already killed 578 people in the UK.
On 16th March Mr Johnson warned the country that without drastic action, cases of coronavirus could double every 5 or 6 days.
“Now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others and to stop all unnecessary travel, Mr Johnson said. “We need people to start working from home where they possibly can. And you should avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues. It goes without saying, we should all only use the NHS when we really need to. And please go online rather than ringing NHS 111.”
He also advised all to avoid the unnecessary social contact, saying it was “particularly important for people over 70, for pregnant women and for those with some health conditions.”
Earlier this week Prince of Wales also tested positive for the virus.
A spokesman said Prince Charles, 71, is displaying mild symptoms “but otherwise remains in good health”.
