Germany: Officials discover another coronavirus mutant variant different from UK – South Africa strains

Germany officials have discovered another mutant variant of coronavirus that is different to strains in the UK and South Africa. Health officials said the new mutation was identified in hospital patients in Bavaria.

It is not very clear whether the new strain discovered is one to be transferred more easily that the other strains of the Covid virus.

The UK variant, known as B-117 was first discovered in September and is over 70 per cent more transmissible than variants already circulating in the UK. The variant was first discovered in the South of England, before spreading to London and the rest of the country reported The Sun UK.

The new German variant is also different from the South African strain. Health Secretary Matt Hancock revealed the new strain on December 23 and subsequently all flights from South Africa were stopped, we wrote about Germany stopping flight to and from the UK here>>>.
