Ghanaian-German actor Eugene Boateng is definitely one to look out for when it comes to rising stars in the acting scene. Eugene featured in the African Film about migrants ‘Borga’.

Eugene was born Eugene Kwaku Asante Ata Boateng on March 20, 1985 in Düsseldorf. He is an actor, choreographer, dancer and model.

Family
Born to Ghanaian parents, Eugene Boateng aka U-Gin grew up with his 7 siblings on Kiefernstrasse in Düsseldorf, which is a place famously known for squatters. His environment had such diversity that he was inspired to dance and at 19 he started training in his parent’s attic wining his first competition.

Career
He has appeared in several music videos with artists such as Kool Savas, MIA, jan Delay and the No Angels.
He has appeared in films such as Fhlip Fhlop , together with Ernest Allan Hausmann , A Taste Of Ra or Tales of the Funky.
Further training by lecturers from the Berlin drama school Ernst Busch and the University of the Arts in the fields of singing, acting and directing helped him to roles in love makes sexy, Robert Zimmermann wonders about love in series such as Um Himmels Willen and Cinema commercials.
His cinema debut was in a leading role alongside Christian Ulmen in Beck’s last summer (2015).
In 2021 he took on the title role in York-Fabian Raabe’s feature film Borga , which won him the award for socially relevant film as associate producer and actor at the 42nd Max Ophüls Film Festival. He also received a nomination as Best Newcomer.
The star also features in 2021 Netflix Series ‘Tribes of Europa’ which is airing now.
