Fashion. Kenyan Germany-based Fashion Designer, Florence Oriwo unveiled a stunning a new collection from her fashion brand Oriwo Designs dubbed ‘The Identime Collection’ which features new patterns and colours.
Oriwo-Design founder and lead designer, Florence Oriwo, shared with Afronews that her taste and style has changed as the years go by and she feels like this collection is allowing her to move into the next phase of her fashion design journey while giving her the permission to explore what comes next.
“I love prints, always have, always will. So in honour of that love, I decided to create my own print. It started out as my own ‘fingerprint’ but I found that to be a bit ‘self-obsessive’ so together with the team at ‘Grapes Pattern Bank’ based in Lagos and under the creative direction of ‘Adebusola Ekoko’, the ‘Identime print’ was created.”
Oriwo’s new collection is an amazing labour of love for fashion, style, elegance with a sense of timelessness to her pieces. All this is achieved while still giving that feel of ‘Africa’ in the colours and design.
“As an artist, whenever you create anything and you share it with the world, it almost always means that you are sharing a piece of you with everyone who comes into contact with it. This is me, ‘literally’ putting myself out there into the world.”
Oriwo-Design: What is the ‘Identime Collection’ made up of?
The collection is made up of 2 Maxi slip dresses, a trouser co-ord set, a mixed print kimono and a scarf that comes in 2 different sizes.
The collection is available for pre-order on Afroschick.
To celebrate the launch of the collection and also Afroschick turning ‘3’, Oriwo had a Fashion Show at ‘Mundsburg Center’ in Hamburg as part of the ‘Mundsburg Art & Music Festival’ on 03.6.2023. The scene was a beautiful mix of people in support and those who appreciate a great fashion showcase.
