World Cup 2022: Nigerian fans attack Ghanaian players after Super Eagles’ failure to meet qualifiers

World Cup 2022 qualifications: In the playoff games for the Qatar World Cup 2022 there occurred mayhem when Nigerians fans decided to attack Ghanaian players after their team did not make it to the coveted games.

Nigerian fans stormed the pitch and chased the footballers attempting to flee at the Abuja National Stadium after the final whistle to the game.

Numerous videos on Social Media depicted supporters of the ‘Super Eagles’ leaving their seats in the stands and storming the field in anger.

According to Rand.de the crowd streamed unerringly towards the players’ tunnel and wanted to attack the players who had previously narrowly missed out on participating in the World Cup.

The emotional disappointed fans had to be stopped by the police who were forced to use teargas against the Nigerian fans.

The Ghana National Team won with a 1-1 draw in the second leg of the playoffs to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar. Arsenal’s Thomas Partey gave the visitor the lead in the 10th minute.

William Troost-Ekong was only able to equalise with a penalty kick (22nd minute).

For the first time since the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the “Super Eagles” will miss the world’s biggest football tournament.
