Ukraine news: Germany has been welcoming refugees from Ukraine who were affected by the war. Here’s a guide on where refugees arriving in Berlin, Germany from Ukraine can get help at these reception centres:
Where refugees arriving in Germany from Ukraine can get help – reception centres
These are the official reception centres in Berlin:-
- Ankunftszentrum des LAF: *Oranienburger Straße 285,13437 Berlin*
- Ankunftszentrum des LAF: *Flughafen Berlin-Tegel, Saatwinkler Damm, 13405 Berlin* (former Tegel Airport).
The arrival centres are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
People coming from Ukraine are also being attended to at the following places:-
- Welcome Tent in front of the main entrance of Berlin Central Station (Hauptbahnhof)
- ZOB – Zentraler Omnibusbahnhof Berlin (Central Bus Station), Messedamm 8, 14057 Berlin
- From the forecourt of Berlin Central Station and the Central Bus Station (ZOB), buses will take people from Ukraine to the arrival and distribution centre at the former Tegel Airport, from where they may be taken to other federal states.
Refugees from Ukraine are also being encouraged to download the BVG app which is available in English and will allow easy navigation to one’s destination.
With a Ukrainian ID you can use public transport in Berlin and Brandenburg (bus, tram, underground and S-Bahn) free of charge.
For people who already have another destination in Germany or Western Europe in mind, they should take advantage of the free Deutsche Bahn – Help Ukraine Ticket, and travel on to their desired destination by train. They don’t have to register in Berlin.

Refugees from Ukraine, who are not Ukrainians – like foreign students in Germany – can use the BVG (up to the 31st march) for free.
In case of ticket control, they should show their Ukrainian Visa in their passport or, for example, their Ukrainian student-identity-paper. More details abut this here: www.bvg.de
