Germany coronavirus deaths: The situation of the coronavirus pandemic in Germany is rapidly changing for the worse as the Robert Koch Institute reported 24,740 new cases of the crown in the last 24 hours on Wednesday morning.
For comparison, RKI on Tuesday reported 14,432 new infections, less than 10,000 cases. Therefore, the number of new infections is well above the level of the previous week.
According to RKI, a total of 1,554,920 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic.
The number of people recovered has increased to 1,160,100 and there are currently about 366,500 active cases in Germany. That is 2,500 less than the day before, according to Focus.de.
But the worrying news is the sharp rise in the death toll. RKI reported 962 new Covid-19-related deaths in 24 hours on Wednesday. It is slightly higher than the previous record of 952 deaths a week ago.

The so-called seven-day incidence was 195.1 on Wednesday, according to RKI. It was slightly below the previous day’s value of 197.6. This indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants during this period. The seven-day incidence is an essential indication for imposing and relaxing measures against the spread of the new virus. The federal government’s goal is to reduce the incidence to below 50.
According to RKI, the 7-day incidence on Wednesday morning is again the highest in Saxony, at 414.1. Compared to the previous day (426.8) it decreased slightly. Thuringia is the second worst affected with an incidence of 319.6 (previous day: 299.4). Hesse is in third place with an incidence of 207.7, just ahead of Bavaria with an incidence of 215.9.
The Divi Intensive Care Registry reports 5,216 Covid-19 patients in intensive care beds (Tuesday data). Of the 5,216 patients, 2,726 are connected to ventilators, representing approximately 52% of Covid intensive care patients.
According to the intensive care unit register, a total of 22,038 of the 26,806 available intensive care beds are currently occupied – this corresponds to an occupancy rate of 82%.
