Pope declares Catholic Church can not bless gay marriages because it ‘can’t bless sin’

The Roman Catholic church have further showed they are against homosexuality without necessarily having to say they are against it. It has declared that it does not see itself as authorised to be bless homosexual partnerships.

This has been by choosing not to even comment on it on Pope Francis’ front.

This was made clear by the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on Monday – and caused great excitement in the church.

The so-called Responsum ad dubium (answer to a doubt) states that blessings in human relationships are only possible if they serve God’s plans. Any form of blessing that recognises homosexual partnerships is inadmissible. The Christian community is called upon to respect people with homosexual tendencies, Merkur.

With the consent of Pope Francis the letter of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith was published. It should be noted that it now states that it is not allowed to give blessings to relationships or even stable partnerships that include a sexual practice outside of marriage – which is the assumed case with people of the same sex.

The chairman of the German Bishops’ Conference, Georg Bätzing, declared that the Vatican authority only reflected the current state of church teaching in its declaration. He referred to the possibility of further developing Catholic teaching.

For the church, as far as plans to equate relationships between homosexuals with marriage are concerned, there is no foundation for homosexual unions and to make analogies with God’s plan for marriage and the family, not even in a broader sense.

The Catholic women’s community in Germany condemned the Vatican declaration. They continue to campaign for the recognition of same-sex couples because people must not be discriminated against on the basis of their sexual orientation and way of life.
