Nigerians in Ukraine: Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has approved $8.5 million to help evacuate Nigerians who are stuck in Ukraine
The president team has started mediation to evacuate the 5000 people who are currently stuck in Ukraine. The minister of state and foreign affairs, Zubairu Dada said the approval was done at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo
Zubairu Dada said Air Peace and Max Airlines have been contracted to provide three aircraft to facilitate the evacuation of Nigerians amidst Russian invasion of the Eastern European country.
Nigerian airline – Max Air evacuated Nigerian citizens and arrived in Abuja on 4th March at 7. 00 A.M in the morning. Two more airplanes are expected in the country as well.
The Federal government has promised the returnees $100 equivalent to 56,000 Naira. The Minister of foreign affairs has also said that the pick-up flights will head to Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania
