Increased road checks throughout Germany: Road checks will be carried out in Germany and other European countries until October 17. This time the officers target the trucks.
Operation Trucks & Bus will take place from October 11 to 17, during which German traffic officers will focus primarily on heavy goods vehicles.
According to the Trans.Info portal , the action is carried out in countries belonging to ROADPOL (European Traffic Police Network), i.e. in: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, France, Finland, Greece, Hungary , Ireland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Great Britain, Estonia and Italy.
The officers control the technical condition of the trucks, the dimensions and weight of the vehicles, and check that the drivers have the appropriate documents and that they comply with the regulations governing driving and rest times.
Driving bans for trucks on October 31 and November 1, 2021 in Germany
On October 31 and November 1, trucks with a permissible total weight of over 7.5 tons and trucks with trailers are banned in Germany, regardless of their weight, in selected federal states. The ban is valid from 0.00 to 22.00.
On October 31 (Reformation Day), the ban will apply throughout the country because it falls on a Sunday this year.
On November 1 (All Saints’ Day), the ban applies in: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland.

What kind of transport does the driving ban on Sundays and public holidays not apply to?
– combined rail-road freight services from the sender to the nearest loading station or from the nearest unloading station to the recipient, but only up to 200 km;
– combined port and road freight services between the point of loading and unloading and a port up to a maximum radius of 150 kilometers (delivery and export);
– transports:
a) fresh milk and fresh dairy products,
b) fresh meat and fresh meat processing products,
c) fresh fish, live fish and fresh fish processing products,
d) perishable fruit and vegetables,
– empty journeys, performed in connection with the transports specified in point 3.
ATTENTION! You must be in possession of the legally required transport documents or accompanying documents for all cargo carried, and upon request, show these documents to the persons appointed for inspection.
Granting permits by way of exception
The issuing of permits for the movement of trucks on Sundays, public holidays (and holiday Saturdays) is the responsibility of the individual federal states (Länder). In the case of vehicles entering from abroad, applications should be submitted to the road traffic office competent for the given border crossing.
