Application for Kindergeld Child Benefit 2022 – who needs to submit a new application

The current school year is coming to an end and many parents do not know how this swill affect the further payments of Kindergeld Child Benefit. If your child turns 18 soon, you may also continue to receive the child benefit.

What is the catch? You must submit a new application. If you do not do this, the payment of the benefit will be interrupted. Also, you won’t get Kinderbonus 2022.

You are eligible to receive child benefit if your child is still in education, apprenticeship or working as a registered volunteer after the age of 18. You are entitled to Kindergeld even if your adult child does not live in Germany.

Payment of Kindergeld Child Benefit ends when the child reaches the age of 18. If your 18th birthday falls on the first day of the month, your entitlement to unemployment benefit which will expire on the last day of the preceding month.

If the child is still attending school, training or studying, a new application must be made.

Kindergeld for adult children who are apprentices, study, work placements or volunteer work is available up to the age of 25.

Kindergeld Child Benefit in 2022

Kindergeld  is a monthly payment for  each child . In 2022, the rates are as follows:
EUR 219  for the first and second child
EUR 225  for the third child
EUR 250  for each additional child.

Child benefit: up to what age is it paid
Kindergeld benefit is in principle:
– for all children up to the age of 18
– for children up to 25 years of age
– for unemployed children up to the age of 21
