He further went ahead and said that he would not desire to be buried with a loud ceremony and would prefer cremation with a close-knit burial ceremony. All this he said as he was performing at the New Africa Shrine during the performance. Femi Kuti re-opened the New African Shine in 2000 after his father passed on.

The 59-year-old singer believes that cremation is the most hygienic way of sending someone off. Femi Kuti gave an example of the Ikoyi Cemetery in Lagos where it has existed for over 60 years. Femi claimed that people have been buried on that ground since way back and more people will still be buried there. “The burial ground is not even 1 million acres yet it has never been full ever since I was little” he added

Femi Kuti is the son of the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti who was also a legend in his time and era. He alongside his son Made Kuti is part of the Nigeria nominees for the 2022 Grammy Awards in one of the 86 categories.
