Who is Joyce Avoka?
Joyce Avoka is the winner of the Best African Beauty & Hair Salon in Germany 2022 Award. She is a hairdresser and a stylist who was born and raised in Kenya, and now lives in Germany.
Joyce is the founder of JOYCE ARTS. She has been plaiting hair for more than a decade now. Joyce first developed passion for hairstyling at the tender age of five while in the lower primary school.
She later on went to a beauty college to sharpen her talent. Joyce was among the top performing students at her college. After obtaining the diploma, she opened her own salon and pursued hairdressing.
Joyce specialises on Ethiopian lines, spirals or flat twist and twitched braids.
Her business was doing well until COVID-19 pandemic arrived. Being used to walk in clients, Joyce stopped getting clients and a day would pass without receiving a single client. That’s when she decided to launch her own blog and YouTube channel to give tutorials on exotic hairstyles. Luckily her followers were impressed and started to seek her services again.
“Winning the Best African Beauty & Hair Salon in Germany 2022 Award makes me feel appreciated and honoured. I’m blessed that my talent has been recognised,” Joyce says.
She is grateful to God, her husband Andrew Buraje, daughter, family and friends for their support.
