Dorothea Albans

African Community Awards: African Community in Germany Award (2022) Dorothea Albans has been nominated for the Best African Business/Entrepreneur in Germany Award at the AFRONEWS – Ortel Mobile African Community in Germany Awards (2022).

Who is Dorothea Albans?

Dorothea Albans was born in Enugu State in Nigeria. She is a graduate of Food Science and Technology from the University of Agriculture Makurdi in Benue State, Nigeria.

She is married with two kids. Dorothea relocated to Europe nine years ago, and quickly discovered that Africans find it difficult to get their hair done as beautiful and perfectly as it is done back home.

She took it upon herself as a challenge to find out how she can provide this service by bridging the gap.

It is not easy for African women in Germany to find fight people to take care of styling their hairs. Most women are only left with the solution of cutting short their hair because it is either too expensive or the products that they may need are not readily available on the local supermarkets.

Dorothea decided to provide different hair products ranging from wigs, to organic soap made to suit their skin need.

She is passionate about promoting the African culture and uplifting African cultural heritage and for her to be able to effectively offer services and products to her clients, she first went back to school where she is currently studying Home Science and Management( Hauswirtschaft).

Dorothea’s aim after graduation is to teach and incorporate the African foods like our famous jollof rice and fufu into the school curriculum here.

Her braided wigs and herbal soaps are popular across the African communities living in Germany and also other countries in Europe.

She does not only sell fashion and beauty items but also creates comic, entertaining and educative posts on her social media platform sites”
