Ambassador Alice Mashingaidze hails African Community in Germany Awards, invites investors to Zimbabwe

Ambassador Alice Mashingaidze of the Republic of Zimbabwe to Germany has praised the AFRONEWS – Ortel Mobile African Community in Germany Awards for recognising African achievers in Germany.

In a speech read on her behalf at the Awards Gala Night by Mr Prince Makurudze – Minister Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe to Germany, Ambassador Mashingaidze said the organisers had “done well by introducing the Africa Community in Germany Awards which recognises Africans, including Zimbabweans, for the splendid work they do in pursuing business activities in Germany.”

Mr Stephen Ogongo, who is the editor of Afronews.de, founded the African Community in Germany Awards in 2021 to celebrate and recognise outstanding achievements of Africans in different fields in Germany.

The Awards appreciate and encourage Africans who have excelled in different fields and are making a positive contribution to the German society. They also recognise the good work done by African organisations/associations and businesses to promote a positive image of Africa and Africans, facilitate integration of Africans in Germany, promote business opportunities and international cooperation between Germany and African countries.

“I would like to thank the organisers of this event AfroNews in partnership with Ortel Mobile, for recognising one of our own, Mr. Kumbirai Chipadza, nominated for his outstanding and huge impact in Germany, a worthy winner of the AFRONEWS – Ortel Mobile African Community in Germany Awards,” the ambassador said.

Mr Chipadza won the Best African Business/Entrepreneur in Germany 2022 Award at the Red Carpet Gala Night Awards ceremony held in Eschborn on 22nd October 2022. He was one of the 15 Africans who have excelled in different fields in Germany to be recognised and celebrated at the African Community in Germany Awards Gala Night.

The event was graced by many Excellencies, eminent business and community leaders. Some of the dignitaries who graced the event included: Ms Bärbel Grade – the First Councillor of Eschborn, Mr Allison O. Valentine – First Secretary (Information, Culture and Education) – Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Germany, Mrs Melanie Nolte – Vice President of the Frankfurt Chamber of Industries and Commerce, Mr Gregor Fränzel – the CEO of Ortel Mobile and the main sponsor of the event, Mr Dimitrios Tsakiroglou – Ria Money Transfer Retail Manager, Germany, and Mr Kofi Adu Frimpong – Taptap Send Growth Launcher.

Ambassador Mashingaidze said Zimbabwe was moving with a mantra “Zimbabwe is Open for Business,” echoing the call by President Emmerson Mnangagwa “to Investors and Traders or Business Entities, both Local and International, to take up the abundant opportunities which are prevalent in the country.”

She encouraged the African Community in Germany “to also grab the investment opportunities in all sectors in Zimbabwe.”

“I wish to call upon Ortel Mobile and AfroNews to continue recognising Zimbabwe as a country with great potential in the areas of agriculture, mining, tourism, manufacturing, Information Communication Technology (ICT) development, infrastructure development, energy among other areas of cooperation. We are ready and willing to enter business partnerships with those who are ready to conduct business with Zimbabwe,” Ambassador Mashingaidze said.

Ambassador Alice Mashingaidze appreciated and urged Ortel Mobile and AfroNews “to continue flying the African flag up high” and called upon “Africans living in the diaspora, particularly in Europe, to maintain the spirit of “Ubuntu”/humanity where we look out for each other as brothers and sisters.”

The organisation of the Awards Gala Night was coordinated by Gillian Lwangu Piroth, the CEO of My Ethnic Cooking & Catering (MEC) who also prepared, together with her team of chefs, the high-class African dinner served at the Gala Night.
