AFRONEWS, the newspaper for Africans in Germany is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the AFRONEWS AWARDS 2023. The official nominations have opened today 20th February 2023.
The AFRONEWS AWARDS, also known as the African Community in Germany Awards, celebrate and recognise the outstanding achievements of Africans in different fields in Germany. They are a way of appreciating and encouraging Africans who have excelled in different fields and are making a positive contribution to the German society.
The Awards also recognise the good work done by African organisations/associations and businesses to promote a positive image of Africa and Africans, facilitate integration of Africans in Germany, promote business opportunities and international cooperation between Germany and African countries, and above all, make Germany and the world a better place for all of us.
Stephen Ogongo, editor of AFRONEWS and Founder of AFRONEWS AWARDS, said: “We are happy and proud to announce the call for nominations for AFRONEWS AWARDS 2023. This is the third edition of this extraordinary initiative that celebrates African excellence in Germany. We strongly encourage all Africans in Germany who are doing extraordinary things, as well as those who have excelled in different fields to submit their nominations in order to enable us celebrate them.”
Mr Ogongo appealed to Africans in Germany to nominate all the people who deserve to be recognised and celebrated for their achievements. “AFRONEWS AWARDS are here to celebrate achievers in our community, and encourage and inspire many others to become achievers,” he added.

AFRONEWS AWARDS 2023 NOMINATION TIMELINE:
The nomination period opens on Monday 20th February 2023.
DEADLINE: Nomination forms must be submitted online using the form below (at the end of this article) by Monday, 29th May 2023. No entries received after this date will be considered.
Nomination Criteria:
✅ All nominees must be of African descent and based in Germany.
✅ Nominations are free and there is no limit to the number of nominations that one person or organisation can make.
✅ Self-nominations are allowed. You can therefore nominate yourself, your business, your association, etc…
✅ When a nomination is being provided for another person or people, organisations, etc., the nominator must warrant to Afronews that they have gained the consent of those nominated to put their names and contact details forward to Afronews for the sole purpose of the Awards.
✅ For each nominee, please use a separate nomination form.
✅ People making nominations must provide full details of the nominees, their activities, achievements, contributions and photos. The Awards Committee will decide on whether to accept nominations or not depending on the information submitted on the nomination forms.
✅ Not all the Awards categories announced will be awarded if the Awards Committee considers that the criteria have not been met, or if there are no many qualified nominations in a given category.
✅ Nominators may be asked to provide additional evidence or materials after submission.
✅ Nominators are strongly encouraged to send the photos of the nominees to: editor@afronews.de
✅ The official Award nominees will be notified by email by Monday, 19th June 2023.
✅ Public voting online for the official Award nominees will be open on Monday, 3rd July 2023. DEADLINE: The closing date for voting online is 17:00 on Monday, 11th September 2023.
