Deutsche Bahn disruptions October. Deutsche Bahn is facing many delays and cancellations, which is frustrating for passengers. In August 2024, nearly half of the regional trains at Munich Central Station arrived late. These issues may worsen as passengers in Bavaria will experience more rail travel restrictions this fall. From mid-October to early November, renovation work is scheduled on the route between Munich and Bregenz, disrupting international train services for several weeks.
Construction work between Munich and Bregenz: Key connection from Munich cancelled
From October 13 to November 2, Deutsche Bahn will carry out renovation work on the route from Munich to Lindau on Lake Constance. This project will include modernizing switches and the overhead wires, and the railway line between Buchloe and Memmingen in the Swabian region will be completely closed. The work will be done in two phases:
- Phase 1: Sunday, October 13 to Sunday, October 20, 2024
- Phase 2: Saturday, October 26 to Saturday, November 2, 2024
Limitations on Eurocity-Express train operations
The renovation work will significantly impact the Eurocity Express line between Munich and Zurich. During this time, there will be partial cancellations on this route, with trains only operating on the Lindau-Reutin to Zurich section. The stations Munich Hbf, Buchloe, and Memmingen will be completely bypassed.

Currently, Deutsche Bahn has not released updated timetables for this line in its information and booking systems. Passengers planning to travel on this route during the renovation period are advised to check available connections in advance. It is also unclear how the renovation will affect regional traffic. The closure of the line between Buchloe and Memmingen may disrupt routes served by regional trains RE96, RE72, and RE71 in the Swabian region, according to TZ.
