African footballers. Adama Bojang. Gambian footballer Adama Bojang, has been making waves in the football world sparking interests from multiple clubs in Europe and earning him a new nickname: “The Gambian Hurricane”.

The teenager made an impact in the recent U20’s edition of the AFCON tournament in Egypt, netting four goals as theYoung Scorpionsproceeded to the finals, where they suffered a 2-0 loss to Senegal.

Due to his form for club and country Gambia, Football Federation vice-president Bakary Jammeh, confirmed that Bojang was generating interest from top clubs in Europe. Chelsea and Crystal Palace being two of the most recent clubs in the Premier League to show signs of interest in the Gambian striker. Currently he is valued at around £650,000.

However, Bojang insists he remains grounded despite the reported interest.
“I’ve heard about the news and I am excited about it,” he told BBC Sport Africa.

“It boosts my morale. I’m focusing more on consistency which motivates me a lot, because seeing such clubs following you is a great feeling.

“Through consistency it will make them hungrier for me.”

Who is Adama Bojang?

Adama Bojang (born 28 May, 2004) is a youth international footballer for The Gambia national under-20 football team. He was part of the Gambia squad that finished runner-up at the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Bojang plays in the Gambian top division for Steve Biko FC, who were coached by Abdoulie Bojang, Adama’s grandfather, at the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. Bojang scored four goals including scored a hat-trick against South Sudan in the quater-final. He also scored the winner against Nigeria in the semi-final. The results in the tournament qualified the Gambian team for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Bojang was also named in the CAF Best XI Team of the Tournament.
