Sports news. Nico Schulz, who currently plays for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund is facing criminal charges over domestic violence.
According to the allegations, Shulz “kicked his girlfriend in the stomach with his shoed foot” just two weeks before she was due to give birth.
The players former girlfriend who was pregnant at the time, filed a criminal complaint for multiple cases of alleged domestic abuse that took place in 2020, with an investigation under way.
German media published text messages sent between Schulz and his partner in which she said: “You hit me when I was naked in my own apartment”.
Nico Schulz has denied the claims, telling Dortmund “that he will defend himself against these allegations with the help of a lawyer and that he will also maintain his innocence”.

“The allegations that have been made – of which Borussia Dortmund had no knowledge whatsoever until the media reports emerged – are extremely serious and shocking for BVB,” they said in a statement. “Borussia Dortmund takes them very seriously and distances itself from any form of violence.”
According to Bild, the footballer allegedly assaulted his former partner in 2020 while she was pregnant with his daughter in a bid to “terminate the pregnancy”.
Under German law if convicted of the charges, the 29-year-old faces up to 10 years in prison.
