- Select «Settings» from the menu.
- Go to “Chats” and then “Chat Backup”.
- In this section you can see the status of the last backup performed. To start a new one, click «Save» in Google Drive. You can choose how often you want backups to run automatically.
- Select the Google account where you want to save the backup. If you haven’t added a Google account, WhatsApp will offer you the option to add it.
- Select whether you want to include videos in the backup. Please note that videos can take up a lot of space on Google Drive.
- Click «Save» to manually start the backup process.
On iOS mobile phones (iPhone):
- Go to WhatsApp and go to “Settings” in the lower right corner.
- Select «Chat» and then «Backup».
- Here you can see when the last backup was created. To create a new one, click «Back up now».
