African news. Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has passed away at the age of 27.
Music executive Ovie shared the news of his passing on his social media platform tweeting, “Confirmed. Mohbad is dead. Sad, sad day.” Details surrounding his untimely demise are still unknown.
Friends and fans have since poured out heartfelt messages on social media with his friend, Zamorra tweeting, “Mohbad I see your mainland concert na! We talk na!!! We suppose run one na! Istill get the video na! Abi I don dey mad??? MOHBAD!!!!???”
Rapper Olamide wrote, “Damn! Mohbad.” “This life…”
British-Ghanaian producer, Juls tweeted, “R.I.P Mohbad.”
Blaqbones also tweeted, “RIP Mohbad, may you find peace.”
Who is Mohbad?
Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known professionally as MohBad, was a Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter from Lagos. He signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Records and left the label in 2022. His best known for his hit singles “Ponmo, Feel Good”, and “KPK (Ko Por Ke)” (You Will Always Be Remembered) with Rexxie which was nominated three times for The Headies awards 2022.
He released his debut album, Light, in the fourth quarter of 2020 as a follow-up to his viral song “Ponmo,” which featuredDavido, Naira Marley and Lil Kesh. MohBad was nominated five times for The Beatz Awards 2021. He was listed in Audiomack’s top 21 Afrobeat artists of 2021. In 2022, he released Peace, produced by Rexxie. He peaked on TurnTable charts top 50 in 2021 and top 100 in 2022.
