Kindergeld in Germany in 2024
Child benefit (Kindergeld) is a financial support provided for all children, including those living abroad. In 2024, the amount is set at 250 euros per child. Next year, this state aid will increase (find out the new amount). However, it’s important to note that Familienkasse is conducting more frequent checks. Some families in Germany have already been asked to repay the child benefit after these inspections.

Kindergeld is generally granted to:
- All children up to the age of 18
- Children in school up to the age of 25
- Unemployed children up to the age of 21
A parent who has been legally employed in Germany for at least six months is eligible to apply for Kindergeld. Additionally, those who run their own business in Germany or are posted employees can also apply for this benefit.

Kinderzuschlag Supplement: Updated 2024 Amount for Kindergeld
The Kinderzuschlag, a supplement to Kindergeld, is also available to Poles in Germany. The amount of this supplement depends on the family’s income. Since January 1, 2024, low-income families can receive up to 292 euros per month, up from 250 euros in 2023. The benefit is aimed at parents with average incomes.
