Number of coronavirus cases in Germany rises to 48,582

Coronavirus cases in Germany have risen to 48,582, with a total of 325 deaths reported as on Saturday, a report by the German disease and epidemic control center, Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

The highest number of cases have been recorded in Hamburg, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.

The report from Robert Koch Institute shows that most people infected by coronavirus are between 35 and 59 years old. Most of them are men. The virus in fact seems to be hitting more men than woman.

The virus is also more aggressive to the older people. The latest report shows that 87% of deaths in Germany occurred in persons aged 70 years or older.
