Germany: police investigating massive internet paedophile network, over 30,000 suspects

Investigation into a German paedophile network is already underhand from the city of Bergisch Gladbach where there are over 30,000 suspects.

The minister of Justice in the North-Rhine Westphalia, Peter Bisenbach reported that the cyber-crime unit in the state confirmed the high number of suspects in one of Germany’s most populous state.

“We want to drag perpetrators and supporters of child abuse out of the anonymity of the internet,” the minister said. He also added that he had no idea as to the extent of child abuse available on the internet for easy access.

Those suspected are being accused of sharing information and data in ‘child and youth pornographic content’ including ‘fictitious and or real cases of abuse’ in anonymous online discussion /chats room forums.

The investigators revealed that many of these subjects involved in the German paedophile network exchange information in some forums on the web, also giving advice on how to make children comfortable.

The abuse investigations began last October with the arrest of a suspected perpetrator in Bergisch Gladbach, near Cologne. To date, just over 70 suspects have been identified throughout Germany.
