Coronavirus (COVID-19) has now killed more than 2,373 people in Germany. The total number of infections now stands at 113,525, a new report by the German disease and epidemic control center, Robert Koch Institute (RKI) shows.
At least 5,323 news cases have been in the country. The incidence (cases per 100,000) of COVID-19 is highest in Bavaria (232), Baden-Wuerttemberg (203), Hamburg (193) and Saarland (187).

In Germany, 69% of the people infected by coronavirus are aged between 15 and 59 years. The percentage of men and women infected is almost identical; men (51%) and women (49%).
A total of 891 were children under 5 years of age, 2,239 children aged 5 to 14 years, 78,250 persons aged 15 to 59 years, 21,970 persons aged 60 to 79 years and 9,990 persons aged 80 years and older. The age of 185 notified cases is unknown. The median age of cases is 50 years.
It continues to kill mainly older people. The latest report from Robert Koch Institute shows that 86% of people killed by the virus in Germany are aged 70 years or older.

The report further confirms the increase in COVID-19 related outbreaks in nursing homes and hospitals. In some of these outbreaks, the number of deaths is relatively high.
