5 changes in Germany in September 2021

Interactive “Wahl-O-Mat” preference detector helps the undecided

Those who want to be factual and follow the electoral programs will receive help from September 2 . Then the traditional interactive preference detector “Wahl-O-Mat” of the Federal Centre for Civic Education will appear on the web.

Elections to the Bundestag

The new Bundestag will be elected on September 26, 2021. The election result will decide the composition of the next federal government, and the parliament will decide on Merkel’s successor.

As reported by the German media, due to the coronavirus, a record number of voters will decide to cast their votes in the Bundestag elections by post. As of August 16, it is possible to submit an intention to vote by post.

On the website of the Federal Electoral Commissioner, it is recommended that the electoral roll be posted on the third working day before the elections at the latest, i.e. by Friday 24 September at 6.00 p.m. at the latest, so that it arrives on time.

New labels on light bulbs

Since March 2021, electrical equipment has changed the energy class markings on the labels from “A” to “G”. They make it easy for customers to see how energy-efficient a device is. From September 1, 2021, the energy labels of light sources, i.e. lighting, will also be changed.

No more money pool fundraising on PayPal

From September 30, PayPal will disable the ability to create new MoneyPool collections, thanks to which PayPal users can collect money for holidays, group gifts or regular shared expenses – by creating and sharing a dedicated link with their friends and family.
