“Women are one of the strongest and most innovative groups of people in the world. Despite all the challenges they face daily many still work hard to contribute positively to their families and communities. There is need to celebrate them, motivate and encourage them to keep on moving,” say the organisers.

The conference whose theme is: “Women Take Action: Future in our hands”, is open to all women from all parts of Germany and beyond.

“We have a vision to see women become the best they can no matter where they live,” say the organisers.

The highlight of the conference will be the recognition of hard working women of African Heritage in Germany and the Diaspora who are role models in their communities through the “Sonne Woman of Excellence Icon”.

Dr. Pierrette Herzberger – Fofana, the head of “Migrant Network in Bavaria” (Migrantinnen-Netzwerks-Bayern), will be the special guest of honour. Originally from Senegal, Dr. Herzberger-Fofana was a researcher in her home country before coming to Germany. In 1998 she founded the organisation “FORWARD-Germany” for women’s health in Germany. She was elected as a Councillor in Erlangen for the “Green Party” in Germany in 2005.

The Moving Women Empowerment Conference will be addressed by Matthilda Legitimus – Schleiche, an Anthropologist;  Stephanie Knott,  a Social Worker and Manager; Fadumo Korn, an Author and Activist from Somalia; Rahmée Wetterrich, a Fashion Designer, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist; Vivian Timothy, a multiple Award Winning Artist; and Dr Njoula Baryoh, a Medical Doctor practising in Germany.
