Afcon 2021: Senegal’s Captain at the Africa Cup, Sadio Mane, was awarded the player of the tournament in Cameroon after an amazing win against Egypt.
Sadio Mane awarded player of the tournament:
The captain led his team to glory on Sunday when he delivered the decisive penalty shot that won the finals against Egypt.
Mane’s shot was one to make up for a missed opportunity just seven minutes into the game that Mohamed Abou Gabal pushed a powerful kick down the middle to safety.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was his opponent in the final match aside from being a fellow teammate bringing up the memory of the start being part of the Senegal team that lost to Algeria in the previous final in Cairo three years ago.
Cameroon captain Vincent Aboubakar received the Golden Boot award for finishing leading scorer with eight goals, including two in a dramatic third place victory over Burkina Faso on the eve of the final.
Vincent came close to matching the single Cup of nations tournament record of nine goals set in 1974 by the now deceased Ndaye Mulamba of Zaire (later renamed the Democratic Republic of Congo) – Arabnews.
