African Community Awards: African Community in Germany Awards 2022. Roselyne Ogonya wins Best African Fashion Designer in Europe Award at the AFRONEWS – Ortel Mobile African Community in Germany Awards 2022.
This was the only category open to Africans in all European countries and not limited to only Africans in Germany.
Who is Roselyne Ogonya?
Roselyne Ogonya is the Best African Fashion Designer in Europe 2022. She has won in this category which was the only one open to Africans in all European countries and not limited to only those in Germany.
Roselyne Ogonya was born in Kenya but later relocated to Italy in 2006 for an international modelling career. This was through participation in a movie shot in Malindi.
An Italian production was shooting some movies in Malindi when her agency called her for casting. The company that was doing the film then had a modelling agency and due to her exemplary performance, she won herself an invitation to Rome.
Ms Ogonya has so far established herself in Italy and she has participated in several modelling events. She also models for labels such as Fendi, Celine, Armani Jeans, and fashion designer Alberta Ferretti.
In 2011 she enrolled in Koefia International Fashion Academy in Rome. In 2015 she moved to Milan and joined IMB Istituto Moda Burgo for three years. Ms Ogonya created her clothesline and brand, MOG Couture, shortly after graduating from fashion schools.
Through MOG Couture, she has created several clothing items and accessories that have been showcased on various runways. Some of her products were worn by models in an event held in September 2021 where she won an award. On 8th October 2022 the Kenyan-Italy based fashion designer, stylist and model showcased her latest collection at her own fashion event in in Cinisello Balsamo, Milan.
During the COVID -19 pandemic Ms Ogonya created kitenge facemasks and distributed them for free to the people living in her area in Milan. This is part of her blending with the society she lives in.
