The best jobs in Germany in 2025

Choosing the right employer is crucial for job satisfaction. It impacts not just your salary, but also your happiness at work and opportunities for career growth. To help employees navigate Germany’s job market, a large survey was conducted with 34,000 participants. They rated their employers in different areas and said whether they would recommend their workplace to others. Surprisingly, the top spot in the ranking didn’t go to a tech giant or famous car brand, but to the drugstore chain DM. The company, which has over 51,000 employees, scored 88 out of 100 points, well above the average score of 66.58. DM’s biggest strength was its focus on sustainability (Nachhaltigkeit).

Top 10 best employers in Germany

The top ten also include well-known brands from the automotive, technology, food and sports industries:

  • DM – 88 points
  • Adidas – 87.16
  • Google Germany – 85.79
  • BMW – 85.46
  • Porsche – 84.58
  • Audi – 83.34
  • Teekanne – 83.05
  • German Aerospace Center (DLR) – 82.69
  • Boehringer Ingelheim – 82.54
  • Lindt & Sprungli Deutschland – 82.31

Success in various industries

The ranking also highlighted the best employers in specific industries:

  • Retail: DM ranked first, ahead of Rossmann.
  • Technology & Telecommunications: Microsoft Germany took the top spot, followed by Datev, Atruvia, Bridging-IT, and Adtran.
  • Automotive: BMW was the best employer in this sector, followed by Porsche, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Coroplast.
  • Tourism and Hospitality: The luxury hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich came in first, followed by Tui, Fit X, Enterprise Rent a Car, and Aida Cruises.
  • Medical Sector: The German Cancer Research Center ranked first, followed by Klinikum Niederlausitz, the University Hospitals in Bonn and Münster, and Klinikum Bielefeld.

Top employers for women and beginners

DM not only topped the overall ranking but also earned the title of best employer for women. Google Germany, Adidas, Deutsche Bundesbank, and Adtran were also recognized in this category. When it comes to employers offering the best conditions for people starting their careers, the leaders included: Carglass, DM, Adidas, Google Germany, and Ikea.

How was the ranking created?

The ranking was created based on feedback from 34,000 employees who participated in online surveys. The study covered more than 2,600 companies across 24 industries, with 650 of the highest-rated employers making it to the final list. To be included in the ranking, a company had to employ at least 500 people in Germany and receive at least 100 ratings.
