Ademola Lookman makes history. African footballers. Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, put his name in history books with a remarkable hat-trick on Wednesday, leading Atalanta to a commanding 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final.

Lookman’s amazing performance not only secured Atalanta’s triumph but also marked the first-ever hat-trick scored in a Europa League final, highlighting his exceptional talent on the pitch. Furthermore, Lookman’s contributions helped Atalanta claim their first continental trophy in 49 years.

The defeat dealt a significant blow to Leverkusen, ending their impressive 51-game unbeaten streak across all competitions for the season.

Lookman wasted no time making an impact, opening the scoring just 12 minutes into the match with a clinical finish from inside the box, courtesy of a well-placed pass from Davide Zappacosta. The Nigerian striker doubled his tally in the 26th minute, unleashing a powerful strike from outside the box that found the bottom right corner of the net, extending Atalanta’s lead to 2-0.

Despite Leverkusen’s attempts to claw back into the game, including efforts from Alejandro Grimaldo and Charles De Ketelaere, Atalanta’s defense held firm. Lookman completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute, capping off a memorable performance with a superb solo run and a composed finish inside the box, securing Atalanta’s victory with a commanding 3-0 lead.
