Nigerian footballer Jordan Torunarigha makes permanent move to Belgian club Gent

Africans in Sports. African footballers. Belgium club, Gent have secured the signing of Nigerian footballer Jordan Torunarigha after English side West Ham, failed to follow up on their bid.

West Ham for the past month have been linked to talks with Hertha Berlin, with the German club valuing him at €5m following a spectacular season on loan at Gent.

Gent, impressed with the defender’s quality, reportedly offered Hertha two million euros plus bonuses for Torunarigha but the offer was rejected as nothing but five million euros on the table would convince them to part with the German youth international.

Hertha are currently set to secure roughly €4.5 million for the transfer.

Torunarigha made 15 appearances across all competitions for Belgian side during his last loan spell. He departs German football with a record of 6 goals, five assists and 78 total appearances for Hertha since 2016.

He has been at Hertha Berlin since 2006, first as an eight-year-old schoolboy, before turning professional ten years later.

Jordan Torunarigha (born 7th August 1997) currently plays for Belgian club Gent on loan from Bundesliga club Hertha BSC. He is son of former footballer, Ojokojo Torunarigha and brother of current footballer Junior Torunarigha.
