Why African Women in Europe are heading to Germany for an International Conference

African women from all parts of Europe will gather in Düsseldorf, Germany to discuss leadership and integration policies.

The African Women in Europe (AWE) Conference will be held on 18th June 2016 under the theme: “Leadership and integration for change.”

It is being organized by the African Women in Europe (AWE) Network, an organization founded in 2008 by Joy Zenz and co-founder Wambui Njau, with more than 1,000 members globally.

AWE aims to empower African women; support upcoming and existing entrepreneurs; positively reflect the image of an African woman in Europe; offer an informative and easy to manage networking platform; connect and form sustainable partnership among members in addition to offering training, conferences and workshop online and off-line.

“The women support, encourage and inspire each other while investing both in Europe and in Africa in support of African economic development,” the founders of AWE say. “We have had support from mainstream organizations and key individuals from across the spectrum who believe in the importance of African women’s engagement with African economic development and who are excited that we are doing it for ourselves.”

The African Women in Europe (AWE) Conference will have a powerhouse of speakers, entertainers and networking, finishing off with three course dinner and dance.

AWE strongly believes that women are the cornerstone of society. The organisation’s motto: “Together we are strong” embodies the African saying: “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.”

Guests will be entertained by DJ Aisher, a live performance by Goddiebass on SAX in addition to enjoying a Fashion show by Oriwo-Design.

The deadline for registration is 15th June 2016. Both women and men are invited.

“We also have a youth programme led by under 25 year olds who will be talking about identity crisis for youth in Europe,” the organisers of African Women in Europe (AWE) Conference say.

The African Women in Europe (AWE) Conference will be held at the Maritim Hotel Dusseldorf, Maritim-Platz 1, 40474 Düsseldorf, Germany, on 18th June 2016 from 13:00.
