Yankuba Minteh’s future at Newcastle. African footballers. Yankuba Minteh’s future at Newcastle United is unclear as the summer transfer window nears. The 19-year-old Gambian winger has returned from his season-long loan at Dutch club Feyenoord and now has the chance to impress Newcastle boss Eddie Howe. However, there are rumors that he might leave this summer.
According to Transfermarkt, Minteh is valued at €14 million. Selling him could greatly impact Newcastle’s finances, possibly earning the club a significant profit since they bought him for only €8 million. While this could be a good financial move, it would also mean losing a talented player from Howe’s team.

How great good is Yankuba Minteh?
Last season, the young talent Yankuba Minteh made a big impact while playing for Dutch club Feyenoord under the new Liverpool manager, Arne Slot. Even though Feyenoord finished second, 7 points behind league leaders PSV, Minteh’s performance was impressive.
At 19 years old, he contributed to 16 goals in 27 matches. His dribbling, finishing, and key passing skills were outstanding throughout the season. However, he still needs to improve his crossing, an important skill for a winger. With the right guidance and strategic use in an attacking team, Minteh has the potential to grow and make a significant impact.
Transfer rumours
Several clubs have shown interest in buying Yankuba Minteh, but Newcastle United has made it clear they are not ready to sell him permanently and prefer another loan spell.
According to MagpieMedia on X, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have approached Newcastle about a season-long loan deal for the 2024/25 season. Other clubs like PSV, Feyenoord, and Bologna, where Minteh has previously played, are also keen on loaning the 19-year-old Gambian winger. However, only Dortmund and Leipzig have made formal approaches so far.
Liverpool F.C. will not pursue Minteh, despite his time under newly appointed manager Arne Slot at Feyenoord. The Reds are not interested in signing Minteh either permanently or on loan. Minteh has attracted significant interest from Bundesliga teams. However, if he performs well during the Japan tour, it could catch the eye of Eddie Howe and Newcastle.
