PSG Leads Battle for Ademola Lookman as Transfer Window Approaches

Ademola Lookman PSG deal. African footballers. Ademola Lookman, a Super Eagles star and 2024 Ballon d’Or nominee, may soon leave his current club, Atalanta, in Italy’s Serie A during the upcoming winter transfer window. Several Premier League teams are reportedly interested in the talented winger, with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) currently leading the race to sign him.

Lookman, who helped Nigeria secure a silver medal at the recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), has caught the attention of West Ham United and other English clubs. However, sources say West Ham could struggle to match the financial resources of PSG, making the French club the likely front-runner. There’s expected to be “strong interest” from across Europe in signing the 27-year-old, who once played for Everton in the Premier League.

Ademola’s rise in value is largely due to his impressive performances since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022. His skills have not only earned him a place among the world’s top players in this year’s Ballon d’Or ranking, where he finished 14th, but also helped Atalanta claim the Europa League title last season. Lookman scored 17 goals and added 10 assists in 45 appearances last season, and he’s continued his excellent form this year, with five goals and five assists across 10 games.

Lookman’s position on the pitch could complicate West Ham’s pursuit, as the club already made big investments in Crysencio Summerville and Luis Guilherme in the summer, who play in similar roles. Additionally, after significant spending in the last transfer window, West Ham may have limited funds available for January. This leaves PSG in a strong position to secure Lookman’s signature, especially as the player’s contract with Atalanta runs until June 2026.

As the transfer window approaches, more details are likely to emerge on Lookman’s next career move.
