Chidera Ejuke Makes History. African footballers. Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke has signed a three-year contract with Sevilla, becoming the club’s first summer signing for the 2024-25 season.
The 26-year-old moved to the La Liga team on a free transfer from CSKA Moscow. Last season, he was on loan at Royal Antwerp in Belgium, where he scored five goals and made six assists in 35 games.

Sevilla announced on Monday, “Our first summer signing has arrived, Nigerian international Chidera Ejuke. Born in Zaria, Ejuke is right-footed and has mainly played on the left wing recently. He has experience in all attacking positions in Europe, starting his career in 2017 with Valerenga.”
Ejuke arrived in Norway at 19 in 2017, playing 59 games over two seasons for Valerenga, scoring 15 goals and making six assists. He then moved to the Netherlands to play for Heerenveen, scoring 10 goals and making six assists in one season, which caught the attention of CSKA Moscow.
In Russia, he added 10 goals and eight assists to his record and played five UEFA Europa League games. Due to the war, he left Russia on loan, first playing for Hertha Berlin in the 2022-23 season, then for Royal Antwerp, where he played four UEFA Champions League games for coach Mark van Bommel’s team last season. Internationally, Ejuke debuted for Nigeria in 2020 and has earned eight caps.
At Sevilla, he joins Super Falcons midfielder Toni Payne, a key player for the women’s team in the Spanish top division. He will work under former Watford coach Quique Flores Sanchez as they aim to improve after finishing 14th in La Liga last season.

Chidera Ejuke (born 2 January 1998) is a Nigerian winger who plays for La Liga club Sevilla and the Nigeria national team. In March 2017, Ejuke signed with Norwegian club VÃ¥lerenga. In July 2019, he joined SC Heerenveen in the Netherlands, despite interest from Besiktas JK and Lazio Roma.
On 28 August 2020, he signed a four-year contract with CSKA Moscow. He scored in a 3–1 derby win over Spartak Moscow on 30 September 2020. Ejuke suspended his CSKA contract due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He joined Hertha BSC in July 2022 for the 2022–23 season, debuting on 6 August 2022.
On 5 July 2023, Ejuke suspended his CSKA contract again. On 30 July 2023, Royal Antwerp signed him on a one-year deal, enabled by a FIFA exemption.
