Victor Osimhen transfer news. African footballers. Victor Osimhen is reportedly eager to join Manchester United in January, and initial steps are already in motion to make the transfer happen.

Manchester United are in desperate need of a top-class striker. While Rasmus Hojlund has shown potential, his goal-scoring record of one goal every three matches (23 goals in 65 games) isn’t enough to push United back to the top.

Joshua Zirkzee’s transfer seems to have been a mistake, with reports suggesting he wants to return to Serie A. His early substitution during the 2-0 defeat against Newcastle is said to have been the final straw. Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres has been considered as an option, but United manager Erik ten Hag has ruled out raiding his former club this January.

However, according to Nigerian outlet Business Day, United might not need Gyokeres after all. They report that Victor Osimhen is keen on the move, and Manchester United share that enthusiasm. Talks are already in the early stages.

The 26-year-old striker is currently on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray from Napoli. His loan deal includes a break clause for select clubs, including Manchester United. The big question is whether United can afford Osimhen. After spending over £180 million last summer, the club is working with a tight budget. Any significant transfer will likely require player sales.

Osimhen’s release clause is said to be €90m in January, dropping to €75m in the summer. There’s also speculation about Marcus Rashford being included in the deal to lower the cost, as Napoli manager Antonio Conte is reportedly a fan of Rashford.

Additionally, United would need to compensate Galatasaray with a fee of up to €10m if Osimhen’s loan is cut short. Osimhen has been in top form this season, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists in 16 games, helping Galatasaray maintain an 11-point lead at the top of the Turkish league.
