Ademola Lookman Aims to Set New Goal Record Against AS Roma

Ademola Lookman goal streak

Ademola Lookman goal streak. African footballers. Ademola Lookman, the in-form Super Eagles striker, is on the verge of breaking his personal goal-scoring record as Atalanta faces AS Roma tonight in an Italian Serie A match at the Stadio Olimpico.

Since joining Atalanta in August 2022, Lookman has not scored in three consecutive away games in Serie A, a feat he now has the chance to achieve. In his debut season in Italy, he managed back-to-back goals in away matches in October 2022, against Udinese and Empoli.

Breaking this record won’t be an easy task, especially against Roma, a team that has proven challenging for the Nigerian international. Lookman has faced Roma twice before and has yet to score against them, making them one of his toughest opponents in the league.

In Atalanta’s recent Champions League clash against BSC Young Boys on November 26, Lookman was a surprise omission from the starting lineup. However, this was purely a tactical decision by manager Gian Piero Gasperini, who chose to rotate his squad. Despite this, Lookman remains one of Atalanta’s key players and has been a consistent performer this season.

So far in the 2023/24 Serie A campaign, Lookman has scored seven goals, including three in away matches. His impressive form has earned him a nomination for African Footballer of the Year, further highlighting his importance to both Atalanta and the Nigerian national team.

As Lookman takes to the field tonight, all eyes will be on him to see if he can set a new personal milestone. A goal against Roma would not only break his previous record but also help solidify his reputation as one of the top forwards in Serie A this season.
