The reason is the arrest of three people who are suspected of planning an attack in Vienna and nearby. According to “Kronen Zeitung,” the men probably used a private messaging app to plan the attack.

Barracuda Music, the organizer of Taylor Swift’s concerts in Austria, has confirmed that the dates have been canceled. “Due to the confirmation by government officials of the planned terrorist attack at the Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no other choice but to cancel the three planned concerts in the interests of everyone’s safety,” the organizer announced on Instagram. According to “oe24,” none of the performances will be rescheduled. The organizer assured fans that ticket refunds will be processed within the next ten days.

Arrests Made in Connection with Planned Terrorist Attack in Vienna and Surrounding Areas

In connection with the planned attack, two men suspected of terrorism were detained on August 7, 2024. One of the suspects was allegedly planning an attack on events in the Vienna area. “During the raid on one of the apartments, chemical substances were confiscated,” Austrian police confirmed. The specific substance has not been identified yet, but security sources suggest that it could be used to build a bomb.

According to initial reports, the 19-year-old suspect stole substances from his former employer, a metalworking company in Ternitz, Lower Austria, as reported by BILD. He stored these substances in a house in Ternitz, leading police to evacuate residents of nearby buildings. Authorities suspected that the apartment might contain explosives.
Investigators located the 19-year-old, who had pledged allegiance to the terrorist group Islamic State (IS) a few weeks ago. The Austrian, of northern Macedonian descent, was reportedly planning an attack on one of Taylor Swift’s concerts.

On the same day, investigators arrested a second suspect, a 17-year-old from Vienna. A third suspect, also 17, was arrested later in the evening. According to the Kurier, two other terror suspects are still at large. BILD reports that these individuals are wanted across Europe.
