Rules and restrictions for entry of children to Germany in January 2022.

With few exceptions, travellers are required to register for entry, have a test and, for some, an obligation to quarantine. Testing and quarantine requirements for children have also changed.

Children entering Germany in January 2022: Registration required

Before coming to Germany  from the high-risk area, all persons must register at  www.einreiseanmeldung.de. This also applies to children of all ages.

You can also enter Germany on a  REPLACEMENT ENTRY DECLARATION. It can be printed and filled in before crossing the border with Germany without registering at  https://www.einreiseanmeldung.de .

A replacement declaration of entry to Germany is completed only by persons who were not able to use the electronic entry declaration. One form should be completed per person. In the case of minors or charges, the declaration is completed by the person exercising parental authority or the guardian. It is available in German HERE.

The above form must be presented to the carrier or the authority responsible for police border control.

Entry of children to Germany in January 2022: Obligation to take the test

Anyone over the age of 6 , and not 12 years old , must have on entry either proof of vaccination, or recovery status (valid only for six months after infection), or a negative COVID-19 test result. The results of rapid antigen tests (not older than 48 hours) and PCR tests (results not older than 72 hours) are honoured.

ATTENTION!

Children up to 6 years of age do not need to test negative when entering Germany.

Children entering Germany in January 2022: Quarantine

As a rule, all persons entering Germany from a high-risk area must go to a 10-day quarantine, but vaccinated and convalescent people are not quarantined. Quarantine can be shortened if you perform a second test 5 days after entry and the result is negative.

For children under 6, quarantine ends automatically after 5 days.
