Hundreds of federal police officers and security staff from Deutsche Bahn are checking compliance with the mask requirement on trains across Germany this Monday to bridge coronavirus restrictions reported Bild.de.
Last week, the federally owned company announced that it wanted to step up controls again in December. Every day, up to 50 percent of the long-distance trains are to be checked. With the action day on Monday, the railway wants to draw attention to the topic again.
“Violations are now the absolute exception,” said Berthold Huber, Board Member for Transportation. “So that it stays that way and our customers feel even more secure, we are again increasing the controls for Christmas and, at the same time, the seat capacity in long-distance transport for trips with the best possible distance.”
