Men who threw grenade at an asylum centre in Germany in serious trouble

Three men who threw a grenade at an asylum centre in the German southern town of Villingen-Schwenningen have been sentenced to several years in prison.

DW reported that the grenade did not explode, but the court had to determine whether the accused had the intention of killing or wounding someone.

According to prosecutors, the attack was not directed at asylum seekers but was likely the result of a dispute between rival security companies.

One of the men was sentenced to three years in prison while the second man was sentenced to three years and six months for attempted murder.

The third man was handed a three years and six months’ sentence for incitement.

One man was acquitted while two other men were handed suspended sentences.
