The speed limits in Germany are currently: a maximum of 50 km/h in built-up areas and up to 100 km/h on ordinary roads outside towns . As for motorways in Germany, there is basically no speed limit, but there is a recommendation to drive at a maximum speed of 130 km/h. This applies to all motor vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3.5 tonnes. On other roads outside built-up areas, the speed limit for trucks with a maximum permissible weight of up to 7.5 t is 80 km/h. Heavier vehicles cannot drive faster than 60 km/h.
