Life in Germany. Holidays to expect in March. Due to the two public holidays that were days off, many employees had the opportunity to take a short leave at the beginning of the year.
Starting March, some German residents will once again have the opportunity to rest for a few days in connection with the public holiday falling at the beginning of the new month.
March 8th is a public holiday in these states
Also known as International Women’s Day, March 8th is an opportunity to honor women’s achievements in politics, business, culture and society. However, two federal states in Germany recognized as an official public holiday.
International Women’s Day (Internationaler Frauentag) is a public holiday in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Due to the holiday, schools, offices and shops remain closed. In the rest of Germany, March 8 is a working day.
Spring school holidays in Germany 2023
Spring school holidays will also have to wait until April this year. According to the approved calendar, the Easter holidays will take place on the following dates:
