Kindergeld payment dates in December
The Family Benefits Office in Germany does not pay monthly benefits to all beneficiaries on the same day due to technical reasons. Instead, the payment date depends on the last digit of the Kindergeldnummer (Child Benefit number).
If the last digit is 0, the payment is made at the beginning of the month. Then, payments are made for those with the last digit 1, followed by those with the last digit 2. People with the last digit 8 or 9 usually get their payments at the end of the month, but in 2025, this schedule will change. Recently, the payment dates for Kindergeld in 2025 were published, and it’s also important to note that the amount of the child benefit will slightly increase from 2025.

Kinderzushlag supplement
In addition to the regular child benefit, many low-income families are eligible for a child benefit supplement, known as Kinderzuschlag. The amount of this supplement depends on the family’s income and can be as much as 250 euros per child each month. Both the child benefit and the supplement are paid together. However, to receive the supplement, a separate application must be submitted to the Family Fund. According to the Federal Employment Agency, the supplement is usually granted for a period of 6 months. After this period ends, the application must be submitted again for continued support.
