More than 20 types of chips recalled: the providers warn against eating these products.

Chip recalls in Germany have been increasing for about two months. Alnatura made a start at the end of June, a few weeks later the well-know organic brand extended the recall to other products. This also led to other suppliers taking their snacks out of the market, including the drugstore chain Rossman.

More than 20 different types of chips in Germany have been affected by a major recall where providers have issued warning against eating these products:

  • Alnatura chips recalls : 
    • Alnatura corn chips natural, 125 grams – Best before date (MHD): all up to and including December 7th, 2022
    • Alnatura corn chips paprika, 125 grams – Best before date (MHD): all up to and including December 7th, 2022
    • Alnatura corn rolls, 125 grams – Best before date (MHD): up to and including December 7th, 2022

As a precaution, anyone who bought the chip packs affected by the recall should no longer consume their contents.

Customers can return the products with the above-mentioned best-before dates (MHD) in stores.

According to inFranken.de, the interesting thing about all of the above recalls is the similarities.  These are all corn-based chips and not potato chips, all affected snacks are organic and the reason for the consumption warning is the same – tropane alkaloids contained in the snacks.

These are known to affect heart rates and the central nervous system, as well as cause drowsiness, headaches and nausea, even in low doses.
