Working in Germany. Childcare wages in Germany 2022 – The salary of people working in the care industry in Germany is regulated by law. This means that you can easily calculate how much you can earn in Germany. The amount of remuneration is influenced by qualifications and the place of employment (e.g. nursing home, hospital, private home).

There is a minimum hourly wage for each category of worker. According to the Wage Atlas of the Federal Employment Agency Atlas, for example, the average salary of geriatric nurses in Germany is currently € 3,174 gross. Community and medical nurses earn more.

What three main factors influence the amount of salary for earnings of babysitters in Germany?

In Germany, several factors affect the amount of an employee’s salary in the care industry. The three most important of them are:

Qualifications

First, of course, a distinction needs to be made: How qualified is the person? If you are educated, you earn more than an assistant, and if you have studied nursing, you are more likely to get a high salary.

Employer

In addition to qualifications, the employer is also important. Public sector employees are remunerated according to the collective agreement (TVöD) – their salary and additional benefits are almost constant. People employed in the private sector negotiate their earnings with the employer. They usually earn less than hospital workers.

Field of activity

Another important factor, of course, is the job itself: geriatric nurses are less well paid than community and medical nurses . It is worth knowing that in Germany there are also many professions apart from active nursing – from nursing education to scientific research to quality management – each profession offers different income opportunities.
